Message window UI polish

Find ways to make the UI more minimalist and less cumbersome. example : default to simpler UI no tools in timeline very few thing expanded in messages, hide shortcuts. Maybe some items can appear only in rollover. More icons/ less words ?

• overlay buttons are annoying as they prevent you to access other buttons underneath
• feat(ui): add Simple chat appearance #494 ?

overlay buttons (for the reason you stated). they could be placed differently and it wouldn't block the view.

You mean the auto scroll to top and bottom buttons?

I would remove the overlay buttons entirely and instead place the scroll-to-top / scroll-to-bottom buttons at the extremities of the message pane scrollbar, on the right side of the window. Small dedicated buttons attached to the scrollbar track, so they stay discoverable without covering the content.

The PR is #557 .

When using it, for now to have the compact mode, set tools and thinking to be collapsed and hide token metrics. This will be improved in the next PR.

Opening this issue again as my intent was to gather UI polish issues in the same thread for memory.

some problems with 557

also overlay button is still anoying

can't reach the menu, this is especially a problem when you want to revert a one line prompt, it's not possible. we just need to not aligned to the right border to avoid this problem, other chats canter the overlay button instead. Also the button could be smaller ...

We could also make the stop and play buttons smaller, and alway let the timeline at its smaller width.
