What do you want to work on?

I plan to fix the initialization failure resource cleanup bug in the Python SDK's Sandbox context manager. After a client is acquired, session creation, retrieval or readiness checks may throw exceptions before entering the context. Since Python will not trigger __exit__ when __enter__ fails, client and authentication resources remain unreleased. My work will release these resources on error paths while preserving the original exception, add regression tests with a normal successful context control case, and align the scope with maintainers before implementation.

Why this change?

I have used OpenShell in my open-source projects for coding agents, code interpreters, agent benchmarks, GPU agents and private-model-backed agents. My research focuses on running probabilistic agents within deterministic security boundaries. Reliable resource cleanup is critical for sandbox security: applications should reliably clean up resources even when sandbox initialization fails, to avoid resource leaks and credential-related risks. I have prior open-source contribution experience on deer-flow.

I’m interested in contributing to NVIDIA OpenShell, especially the Python SDK and agent-sandbox workflows.

I’m reviewing issue #2960, “Expose the complete gateway gRPC surface,” and would like to take on a focused, maintainer-approved part of that work. My background is in Python and AI engineering, including agent runtimes, tool execution, and sandboxed workloads.
