We currently have two sections in CONTRIBUTING.md which explains how to build and run the controller in kubernetes clusters. In the Makefile we also have a target make run for running the controller directly on the host.
Add a section about this in CONTRIBUTING.md.
One thing to note is that one wouldnt be able to test validating and defaulting webhooks as these would not be able to be called.
