App opens non-default browser "New Tab" when login URL is unreachable

Issue Details

Steps to reproduce:

1. Run uninstall (Select Remove all settings). Finish procedure
2. Reboot
3. Install new or same ag vpn version.
4. Try to login.

Expected Behavior

Application open default browser with login page.

Actual Behavior

MS Edge(not a default browser) opened with empty new tab each time when click on Login(Reopen) button.

I think this might be happening because of VPN blocks in your country.

Try to log in using a different network, like your mobile data (hotspot). This could help to see if your current ISP is the one blocking the connection.

Also, sometimes these issues just resolve themselves after a while. Did it happen to start working for you already?

Yes. AG VPN is blocked. But in browser I use different proxy to open login page.
But why app open new empty browser window(not a white page when url is blocked). And why app open not default browser(Firefox is my default browser selected in system settings) and open ms edge.

I can't check it because it's blocked(No locations found) on 4 different ISP(two mobile and two landline).

In general, it was possible to "fix" it, so to speak. The problem is that if the login page address is blocked, then ms edge opens, no matter what browser settings are in the system. And accordingly, if you have a third-party browser with a vpn plug-in, it is still impossible to log in, because there are no login addresses. I consider this to be a bug that does not depend on blocks.

PS! I was able to open the default browser only by connecting a PC to a mobile hotspot with a vpn running.

Thanks for the report. I’ve managed to reproduce this issue.

It seems that when the login page is unreachable, the app incorrectly opens a "New Tab" in a non-default browser instead of showing a proper error message.

We’ll look into how to improve the error notifications when the connection is blocked.
