Mail & Calendar clients

Here is a list of mail clients I want to try. To mark a client as complete, the following criteria has to be met:

• can connect via IMAP/SMTP or JMAP to mail.lua.one
• can send/receive mails
• can encrypt/decrypt/sign via my pgp key
• config is entirely in nix

Optional:

• works with OIDC/OAuth2

GUI

• Thunderbird: mostly works

TUI

• aerc: works perfectly
• meli: not yet tried
• pimsync

Pimalaya stack

Currently v2.0 (v0.2.0 in some cases) is in development and not yet released. I'll wait for the new version before trying it out. This will hopefully replace the pimutils stack.

some todos:

Thunderbird:

• DDG Search, auto scrolling
• format plain text, messages in table view, reply above quote
• DNT, No Telemetry, no cookies
• test mail, calender and contacts
• external key¹
• use Dove: build seems to fail right now (July 10th)
• doesn't prompt me for my GPG passphrase

aerc:

• open plain & html mails
• verify mail-check works
• enable desktop notifications
• use adressbook

gpg:

• best way to find public keys: gpg --locate-keys <email>, e.g. in https://keys.openpgp.org/
• then trust key: gpg --edit-key <email>, somehow only trust 5 works?
